U is for Unfinished Life

Welcome to the 2015 A to Z Blogging Challenge! Each day for the month of April I will be posting alphabetically from A to Z and my theme is Wyoming.

"An Unfinished Life," is one of our favorite films. It is set in Wyoming and is the story of a man's grief, a woman's regret and a child's desire for stability. The movie was based on the novel by Wyoming author Mark Spragg, who hails from Cody. As a writer and a movie buff, I look for motifs and metaphors in films and novels; they add depth to the the characters and the story. In "An Unfinished Life," the motif is a bear. The bear represents danger, fear, loneliness and freedom.

Do you have a favorite movie?

  1. I have never seen this movie but now I will have to make sure I find it! Looks like a good one. I'm not sure what my favorite movie would be, if pressed, I love so many different genres. I think I have a favorite in every single one.

    1. Trudy, I was excited to get an autographed copy of Spragg's book Bone Fire, a sequel to An Unfinished Life, at a library fundraiser event. He was a keynote speaker.

  3. But does Morgan Freeman narrate it?

I have many favourite movies. I don't think any of them are set in Wyoming.

    1. CD, no it has no narration, Freeman plays a long time friend of Einer, the Robert Redford character. Freeman was mauled by a bear. I enjoy almost all of Freeman's films. My faves if his include The Shawshank Redemtion, Ten Items or Less, Belle Isle, The a Bucket List.
