The Red Violin (1998)

Christoph Koncz plays the red violin at an 18th century monastery in Austria. Surprise ending reveals why it's called the "red" violin.

Do you play an instrument?

  1. I wanted desperately to play drums but my mother abjectly refused to allow me despite my nonstop begging from 3rd grade through high school. I took organ lessons in 3rd grade and HATED them. I tried banjo in 1996 but found I was too old to learn to read music.

    1. JoJo: Too bad you're mom didn't let you learn drums. But I totally understand why. I would hate organ lessons, too. Banjo is one of the hardest instruments to learn, imo. I can play piano and guitar. I tried flute but realized I don't like to play instruments that I have to use my mouth for. I've also dabble in cello, which I love as well.

  3. No instruments here. And this is a movie I've completely missed.

    1. Craig: It's a great film, but the Samuel L. Jackson role was a bit miscast. Just sayin'.
