C is for Crutches

Welcome to the 2013 A to Z Blogging Challenge!
 Memorable Movie Props

Double Indemnity (1944)

Fred MacMurray pretends to have a broken leg so he and Barbara Stanwyck can murder her husband for the double indemnity insurance. Things went sour when Fred found out Barbara was double crossing him and he shot her in cold blood. And once Edward G. Robinson cracked the case, Fred never had a chance.

Have you ever had to use crutches?

  1. Another great and unexpected choice Luana! One of the finest film noir ever, and such a seemingly mundane prop...

I did use crutches after I sprained my ankle terribly on Dawson's Creek. The thing I didn't know - I was hobbling around on those crutches WITH A BROKEN ARM. I had sustained that a month or so previously in another fall at work. Film production can be dangerous...and I always do my own stunts!

  2. Craig: O my goodness...that must have been so bizarre; crutches with a broken arm! And you were on Dawson's Creek? WOW!!! What did you do with the show?

  4. I've never had to use crutches. Despite being incredibly clumsy I've never hurt myself too seriuously (touch wood). Good luck on your way to Z!

    1. Angeline: Same here. I've never broken a bone or ever had to use crutches. Had some close calls, though.

  5. I always wanted crutches for some reason, and a plaster cast that people could write their names on. Fortunately none of my sprains were ever that bad.

  6. Emie: I've signed casts but never had my own. But that's okay by me. I hope you never have to get crutches or a cast...but if you do, looks like you will look on the positive side. LOL

  7. Ugh, yes, had to use them when I was 16 when I slipped on the floor in high school and broke my ankle. How embarrassing!
